Government Funding For Cloud Computing Companies

We are advised that £40 million is to be made available by the government to invest in SMEs in the cloud computing and ‘software-as-a-service’ markets. Notion Capital will target firms with high growth potential and has so far attracted funding of almost £63 million from the Government, private investors and the European Investment Fund (EIF).

Business and enterprise minister Mark Prisk said: “Notion Capital is the largest Enterprise Capital Fund to date and will help a significant number of firms to grow and create jobs, boosting our economy.”

Gloucestershire LEP Pilots New Retail Scheme

The Gloucestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) will be the first to pilot a range of initiatives to boost the retail sector. The LEP, which is run by economic development firm GFirst, will develop and introduce a range of initiatives based on recommendations from both the Portas Review and the Government’s forthcoming Retail Growth Strategy. Business Minister Mark Prisk, speaking at the Retail Week Conference, has reaffirmed plans to cut red tape for high-street businesses and to develop a single consumer bill of rights.

Late Payment Legislation Failed – Prisk

The Forum for Private Business has quoted  The Telegraph, government minister Mark Prisk is admitting that legislation to manage poor payment practice among the public sector has failed causing genuine hardship among SMEs suppliers.
