High Tech Industries Struggling To Hire Technical Staff

The Policy Exchange has discovered that a lack of technically qualified staff is holding back our ICT sector.  Their researchers have spoken to high-tech and digital companies throughout the country and have found that there is a critical shortage of coders, designers and other highly skilled technical staff.

The report has revealed that the UK has the potential to be a world-beating centre for such skills and begs HMG to re-instate higher degrees in science, technology, maths etc and, in the short term, relax visa rules for qualifying overseas students.

Chris Yiu, author said, “Start ups need to be able to take on the right people fast, not spend months trying to expand their technology teams”.
