Mentoring Programme To Link Designers To Universities

The Design Council  has launched a mentoring programme which provides links between universities and designers to help bring research projects to market. According to Design Week, several projects have already been developed through this BIS-funded programme,  including cancer-detecting needles; an inflatable operating theatre and light-based treatment for tinnitus.

Ellie Runcie, head of the programme, said: “The transition from the lab to the market is tough and design – which is often overlooked during the critical early stages – is a significant factor in shaping user-friendly marketable products and services for the future.”
